[01 May 2006] Nerd!!!
My first nerdy moment for this day happened very early today, as in about 1 something in the morning. We got home from Baguio at about 12:30 am, so after I rested for a while, took a bath and got dressed, I went back to the bathroom and was supposed to brush my teeth. But upon removing the cover and looking at the toothbrush, which I haven't used in a few weeks, I found raised green dots in clusters on the bristles of my toothbrush. Any normal person would have been grossed out at the site of that. But noooooo... after looking at it, I paused for a while... and identified it as fungi. Then, I tried to identify what kind it was and thought of how it got there. It was Aspergillus sp. The toothbrush, in the state where I last left it, must have presented favorable conditions for the fungi. Moisture was sealed due to the cover, and... disgusting as it sounds, I must have not cleaned the toothbrush properly after using it. And so I brushed my teeth using my clean toothbrush found in the kitchen.

Then, at about lunch time, a friend of mine texted me to ask what the other etioligic agents of loose rice watery stools are, other than Vibreo sp. I told him that as far as I can remember, 'rice stools' is a distinct symptom of Vibreo cholerae infection, but it may be possible that he is harboring E. coli (the bacteria, not amoeba) inside his GIT. He said it must be ETEC or EHEC. I told him that choosing from the 2, it must be Enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC) because it causes watery diarrhea, and Enterohemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC) causes bloody ones.

And now, I'm doing homework, basically because it's required. But I am going to make a written report on medicinal plants, a slogan and poster about the Philippine Eagle, and more...

I wonder if I'm going to get any more nerdy later this day?
