I've been really, really tired for the past few days . I had to rehearse everyday for the UPMC concert (just happened last Friday), then every night when I get home at 10:30 pm, I rehearse even more (if I can still catch up, that is) for the concert of our choir in church, in celebration of our 35th anniversary. If that's not enough, I still have assignments to do and exams to study for. Buti nga di pa ko nagkakasakit (thank you, Centrum, and thank you, Vitamin C a.k.a. my Tang vitamin).
So now, minus the concerts, again... it's study, study, and more study. Bleh .
Today, we don't have class, thanks to PGMA's penchant for moving holidays that land on weekends to the nearest weekday. I have an exam on PH 151 (Microbiology) tomorrow first thing in the morning, though. Mejo mahirap pa naman yung coverage! But like I said, I'm really tired, and I just want some time to rest, kahit sandali lang. I promised myself I'd start studying 11:00 am.
It's been a while since I last made a post. What's new?
More fulfillments!
1. Usually, when I finish an exam early, ibig sabihin, wala na akong masagutan. But woah, for my 2nd PH 131 (Physiology) exam, that wasn't the case. I finished early because I actually found the test okay!
2. I finally got my PH 121 (Anatomy) exam, and I DID do good!
3. Grabe, ang toxic pala magbigay ng exam si Sir Magallanes. Our PH 141 (Biostatistics) exam was one of the longest exams I ever took (naalala ko bigla, pinakamahaba pala yung Biochem lab exam... GRR). But I think I did okay, too.
4. Finally!!! My first successfull venipuncture!!! I would like to thank my mom for letting me stick a needle through her median cubital vein so that I may be able to draw erythrocytes for no reason.
5. Aba, di lang pagkuha ng dugo ginagawa ko sa bahay (hehehe). Kumukuha na rin ako ng BP ngayon! I just got my sphygmomanometer and my (purple!) stethoscope, all from my cousins in the US. My mom even asked me to keep a record of my lolo's, lola's and my dad's blood pressure readings, and so I now have this recycled notebook ready to be written on. Hehehe.
May mga bago rin naman sa buhay ko...
1. NEW! bed - As some people would know, we've temporarily deserted our home in Makati, so we can be with our grandparents in ParaƱaque. Our parents switched rooms with us so we can have more space. Then, my brother has been complaining about his bed. He sleeps on a sofa bed that's been giving him backaches that he still puts an extra mat on his bed when he sleeps. So, my parents bought him a new bed. But guess what? They bought us (me and my younger brother) a new double decker bed, too! It's the one that I pointed out to my mom when she showed me my brother's bed, which was actually supposed to be mine. But I don't care, because I love my new bed! The bottom deck has a study table (na inangkin ko na, dahil ako naman ang may pinakamaraming libro at pinakaseryosong mag-aral... compared to my younger brother, who prefers to study lying down, hehehe), and lots of space for books and paraphernalia. Ah basta, I love it!
2. NEW! career options - Dati, sobrang decidido na ako na magiging doktor ako. I still DO want to be a doctor, yun nga lang, ngayon pa lang nahihirapan na ako. I'd still try, but just in case, I've thought about what I might end up in if I don't pursue Medicine anymore. I want to be a high school teacher in an all-boys school. Yesterday, one of our choir members was telling stories about her experiences in teaching, and it really inspired me. Why high school? Why all-boys? I really don't know. The only problem is that I'd have to study again coz I don't think the course I am taking right now can be taught in high school. Who knows? If I'm really into it, then maybe I will. I'd want to teach either Math or Chemistry. Teaching aside, I'm also considering working in the laboratory, either as a researcher or a medical technologist or both. I want to get blood from people (parang ang pangit ata nun pakinggan, hehehe) and examine it. I want to culture microorganisms for examination. I want to mix chemicals and confirm the presence of a substance in a sample. I want a discovery. Laboratory work in Microbiology, Physiology and Biochemistry naman ang naging inspiration ko dito. Still, I am aiming to become a doctor.
3. NEW! interest in what to specialize in - My mom wants me to specialize in neurology or cardiology when I get into Medicine. I've been greatly considering cardiology already (for a funny reason, actually, which I would not want to tell). I'm also considering hematology, inspired by my grandparents' doctor, who always explains to them the purposes (which is related to blood) of the tests that he always makes them take. But now, I am inspired by a certain person to specialize in oncology. It's painful to accept the fact that she'll be gone even before I become a doctor... actually, even before I graduate. They say that oncology is really hard, not in terms of the stuff to study (but I'm not saying it's not academically difficult), but because you'll end up getting attached to the people whose lives you try to prolong, yet in the end, they would just leave, sometimes peacefully, sometimes in pain... One oncologist I know said, "If no one will do it, who else would?" And I agree.
4. NEW! band - My brother's not the only one setting up a band! One of the organizations in PH, the Public Health Artists' Circle (PHAC... and I am a PHACer, ehehe), holds a yearly event, PHACousitcs, that showcases the musical talents of the students in our college. Last year, our batch did not join, for the reason that we did NOT get informed that there was one (and our batch was almost condemned for this, and it wasn't even our fault!). So, we're joining this year (so we can rub it in their faces... hehehe, kidding!), and it just turns out that I'm joining the band that our batch is building. We're called Counterstain, inspired by a Gram-staining procedure in Microbiology. Wish us luck! Screening of bands will be next week!
Well, that's enough for now. Nobela na ito! Di ko pa nga natutuloy yung kwento sa Europe, nakalimutan ko na ata! AND it's 12:00 pm, isang oras din yun na nabawas sa pag-aaral! Oooooh nooooooooo!
