[05 August 2006] Pacquiao as Vice Mayor of Manila?!?

Pacquiao ponders politics as future option
by Nick Giongco
Manila Bulletin, August 5, 2006, H-1

Manny Pacquio is still under decided whether to run as vice-mayor of Manila next year, but there were signs that he is weighing his options one of them a political career after boxing.

On a radio interview, Pacquiao, who is being eyed to be the running mate of mayoralty candidate Arnold "Ali" Atienza, son of incumbent Manila mayor Lito Atienza, said his intentions of seeking public office was not influenced by anyone.

"Hindi ako kinumbinse. (I was not forced)," said Pacquiao. "Ako ang nagdesisyon sa sarili ko. (I decided on my own)."

...

OMG.

There's a big possibility that he will win, if he does run. Unfortunately, majority of Filipinos likes celebrities and would even vote for them even if these celebrities don't even know anything about politics. Why do you think Arnold Schwarzenegger won in California? Marami kasing Pilipino dun. Hehehe.

What is going to happen to Manila?!?
